Where I'm from: I was born and raised in Ohio and went to high school at Southeast Local. I graduated from the University of Akron in 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Anthropology, a Bachelors degree in Education and I minored in Classical Studies.
What I do: I am certified to teach 4-8 grade Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. I taught 6th grade Social Studies at Miller South school for the Visual and Performing arts during my student teaching, and subbed with Akron Public Schools for the remainder of the school year. After moving to Texas I began my teaching career at Lamar as an 8th grade science teacher. Last year I taught 7th grade science and Texas history. Now I'm starting a new adventure teaching 6th grade science and study skills in addition to 7th grade science!
Fun Facts: In my free time I like to scrapbook, ballroom dance with my husband, and travel all over the country showing my dogs. I have 5 dogs, a cat, and a snake here in Texas, but back home when I lived with my parents we pretty much had a small farm. I am an avid animal lover and have trained dogs for about 20 years. My husband and I just got another puppy named Dixie! I'm sure you will hear all about her this year as she grows. I am the BIGGEST museum nerd you will ever meet. I love history and science and can spend hours discovering fascinating things at museums. My favorite colors are neon green and teal blue. My secret talent is pumpkin carving! My bucket list includes going to every AZA accredited zoo and aquarium in the United States. I love to make learning fun and exciting! I look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every one of my students this year.
